Senior Machine Learning Security Scientist

Develop machine learning models for application security threats as a Senior II Data Scientist with Akamai’s Global Web Security group. FlexBase supports working at home, in an office, or both.
This senior role strengthens Akamai security products through data analysis, detection improvements, and customer-focused insights. You will use SQL, Spark, and Python while collaborating across development teams. Your work supports highly scalable solutions across a distributed environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze large datasets to differentiate legitimate and fraudulent traffic
Develop detection rules and models for security products
Improve production-ready dataset collection and analysis processes
Troubleshoot issues across a very distributed environment
Provide insights supporting product improvements and strategy
Requirements:
Eight years of relevant experience and bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Experience using SQL, Spark, and Python with large datasets
Understanding of probability, statistics, and machine learning techniques
Practical knowledge of bot or fraud detection products
Familiarity with TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL
Apply machine learning, statistical analysis, and security expertise to improve Akamai detection products and customer protection.
