Staff Data Platform Engineer
RB Global, Inc.
Lead enterprise data platform architecture with Python and SQL at RB Global, supporting a hybrid team near Chicago, Fort Worth, Burnaby, or Mississauga.
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Data Engineering team, you will set technical direction for scalable data products and platform capabilities. You will work with dbt, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, AWS, Kafka, and Terraform while guiding engineering excellence. The platform powers analytics, reporting, and machine learning across RB Global.
Key Responsibilities:
Define technical vision and architecture for the enterprise data platform
Design resilient ETL and ELT pipelines using dbt, Python, and SQL
Optimize Snowflake and BigQuery models for performance and maintainability
Standardize semantic views across Power BI, Tableau, and Looker
Mentor engineers and influence technical direction across teams
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
10+ years in data or software engineering; 3+ senior or staff
Strong Python and SQL proficiency with object-oriented programming foundations
Expert cloud data warehouse knowledge, preferably Snowflake
Experience designing and scaling production data platforms
Shape RB Global's data platform through architecture, Python, SQL, Snowflake, and technical leadership across engineering teams.
