Senior High Voltage Substation Engineer

Lead high-voltage substation design from Xentric Engineering’s Canmore office, applying power systems expertise to industrial and utility projects.
As a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across projects in British Columbia and Alberta. Your work includes substation layouts, equipment design, power system studies, commissioning, and multidisciplinary coordination. You will support reliable, safe, and efficient solutions for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engineers and EITs designing high-voltage substations
Develop conceptual and detailed equipment and layout designs
Conduct load flow, short circuit, and arc flash studies
Review deliverables and seal work as engineer of record
Supervise commissioning and perform field inspections
Requirements:
Experience leading high-voltage substation engineering projects
Power systems and substation design expertise
Ability to coordinate civil, structural, and protection disciplines
Professional Engineer of record responsibilities
Ability to manage scope, budget, and schedule
Apply substation design, power system studies, and commissioning expertise while leading Xentric Engineering projects across Western Canada.
