Venture capital and growth equity legal expertise supports BDC’s investment activities from Montréal or Toronto within a hybrid work model. Advise internal partners on complex transactions and strategic partnerships.
As Senior Legal Counsel, you support the Assistant Vice-President, Legal Affairs - Investments and Specialized Financing. You collaborate with investment and transactional lawyers supporting BDC and BDC Capital. Your work covers direct investments, fund investments, co-investments, and growth equity activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide clear, practical, timely advice on investment matters
Support internal clients during complex transactions
Negotiate business-related agreements and strategic partnerships
Coordinate external lawyers mandated by BDC
Research legal issues relevant to business activities
Requirements:

University degree in law
Five or more years’ transactional law experience
Venture capital, growth, or private equity experience
Canadian provincial or territorial law society membership
Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Bring investment law experience, sound judgment, and business-oriented advice to BDC’s venture capital and growth equity activities.
