NLP Research Manager Large Language Models

As a Manager and Applied Researcher, you will pursue impactful research while helping deliver AI-powered products. The role supports foundation model development from design through implementation, with potential focus on language models, pre-training, optimization, or fine-tuning. You will work with product and technology leaders on customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and pursue a focused, impactful research agenda
Train, evaluate, validate, and implement AI foundation models
Investigate state-of-the-art language model methods
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and product managers
Communicate research clearly to business stakeholders
Requirements:
PhD or master's degree plus two years applied research experience
NLP research experience or focus, where applicable
Experience with large language model pre-training or fine-tuning
Knowledge of transfer learning, model adaptation, or guidance
Publications at recognized machine learning or NLP conferences
Combine NLP research, large language models, and scalable engineering to develop Capital One's next AI capabilities.
