Steel Mill Maintenance Apprentice Whitby

Start your steel mill maintenance career with Gerdau in Whitby, Ontario, working on pumps, motors, cranes, and production machinery.
As an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Apprentice, you will support maintenance activities throughout Gerdau’s Mill Operations department. The position combines hands-on mechanical work with guidance from supervisors and journeyman tradespeople. Plant-wide rotation builds experience while you complete competency skill sets defined by Skilled Trades Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow company safety policies and procedures throughout plant activities
Complete apprenticeship hours across required competency skill sets
Perform machinery rounds and identify abnormal operating conditions
Maintain production equipment reliability through preventative maintenance
Operate mobile equipment and perform ordinary crane hooking
Requirements:
Approved Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A apprenticeship registration
Level 1 and Level 2 in-school training completed
Minimum 4,000 documented apprenticeship employment hours may qualify
Ability to complete the Apprentice Rotation across plant areas
Strong communication, work ethic, and teamwork with other trades
