Ocean Instrumentation Sensor Engineer

Build ocean-measuring instruments onsite in Kanata, Ontario, using sensor engineering, instrumentation, and experimental testing expertise.
At RBR, this Senior Sensor Engineer role connects sensor technology with instruments deployed by researchers worldwide. You will advance optical and chemical sensors, including turbidity, fluorescence, radiometry, PAR, transmissometry, nitrate, pH, and dissolved oxygen. The work combines research, design, verification, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Advance RBR’s optical and chemical sensor technologies
Research next-generation sensor technology for RBR instruments
Develop requirements, specifications, testing, and verification processes
Collaborate with research and development teams and partners
Balance multiple projects with detailed schedules
Requirements:
Five or more years in sensor development, instrumentation, or R&D
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, or related science
Experience designing experiments and building laboratory test setups
Proficiency with Python or MATLAB data analysis tools
Clear documentation, organised collaboration, and English communication skills
Bring instrumentation, sensor research, and verification experience to RBR’s ocean and climate measurement technology.
