Zoo Animal Care Specialist II
Saskatoon
Apply advanced animal husbandry skills as an Animal Care Specialist II with the City of Saskatoon, supporting zoo operations and visitor experience.
This temporary full-time position lasts approximately 12 months and may become permanent. You will maintain daily husbandry standards, monitor animal health, and support wildlife across the park. The work includes animal care, public interaction, records, and approved enrichment procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare diets, feed animals, and distribute water
Clean, disinfect, and inspect exhibits and equipment
Monitor behaviour for illness or injury signs
Maintain daily animal records using ZIMS
Support routine and emergency rounds with supervisors
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in zoological science, wildlife management, biology, or related field
Two years’ related husbandry experience in an accredited facility
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Current SGI driver’s abstract showing a safe driving record
Acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
Use animal health observation, husbandry expertise, and safe care practices to support accredited zoo operations in Saskatoon.
