Temporary Special Needs Educational Assistant

Support special needs students as a Temporary Educational Assistant with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. Use empathy, discretion, and classroom support skills.
This full-time, 10-month position is scheduled for 35 hours weekly from November 30, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The Educational Assistant supports prescribed programs in individual and group settings. Duties include implementing Individualized Education Plans, assisting lessons, and reporting student development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support prescribed programs for special needs students
Assist transitions, feeding, toileting, and clothing changes
Create crafts, charts, and teaching materials
Observe behaviour and maintain student communication logs
Support behaviour management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation
Requirements:
Completed post-secondary educational assistant program or equivalent
Minimum one year experience working with children
Ability to perform toileting and lifting tasks
Positive, empathetic attitude toward students
Basic computer software knowledge and confidentiality
Bring empathy, discretion, and student support experience to special needs programming with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board.
