Junior Software Engineer, Data & AI
Anova Exploration Corp.
Anova is hiring a Junior Software Engineer, Data & AI, for its head office in downtown Calgary. We are targeting a new grad for this role. You will build the software and data tools the company runs on, working directly with our operations, engineering, land, geoscience and finance teams to turn manual work into reliable software. It is a hands‑on role at a rapidly growing startup, and the work you do will be used every day. Like everyone at Anova, you will share in the company's success.

Reports to: President and Chief Executive Officer
Responsibilities
Build internal applications and tools that take manual work out of operations, engineering, land, geoscience, finance and administration.
Build and maintain the data pipelines that bring production, well, land and financial data together.
Automate recurring reports, data entry and workflows.
Work with the people who do the work to understand the problem before building the solution.
Test, document and support what you build so the team can rely on it.
Keep company data and credentials secure.
Qualifications
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field. We are targeting a new grad, so no professional experience is required.
An outstanding academic record. Please include your unofficial transcript.
Extensive hands‑on experience using Claude and other AI tools to design, write and ship software.
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL. Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript is an asset.
Projects, internships or research that show you can take something from idea to working software.
Clear communication, and the curiosity to learn how an oil and gas business works. No industry experience is needed.
Able to work from the Calgary head office.
