Group Disability Claims Examiner
First Canadian Financial Group
Assess group disability claims in Sherwood Park using medical review and case management skills within First Canadian’s in-office team.
Reporting to the Manager, Group & Creditor Life & Disability Claims, this Claims Examiner manages group benefit claims through resolution. The work includes reviewing eligibility, determining benefit payments, and supporting recovery and return to work. Success requires clear communication with employees, employers, physicians, and medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess entitlement under contractual, medical, functional, and occupational provisions
Conduct telephone interviews about disability scope and daily living effects
Monitor case management plans and medical treatment compliance
Implement modified or gradual return to work programs
Calculate payments and maintain accurate claim documentation
Requirements:
College certificate or diploma in business, insurance, legal, or risk
One to two years’ related insurance, medical, legal, or service experience
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel
Fluent English with proven verbal and written communication competencies
Claims adjudication experience and French are assets
