Vice President Sales Marketing
Auxo | Growth Partner
Location:
Montreal, QC (hybrid) / Toronto, ON (remote)
Salary:
$160,000 - $200,000 CAD + performance bonus + equity
Type:
Full-Time
Auxo is hiring a VP, Sales & Marketing for a fast-growing Canadian deep tech scale-up that sells science-based technology and services to enterprise customers around the world.
You’ll be the company’s first commercial VP, reporting to the COO and taking over a revenue engine that already performs. A Head of Sales and a Head o f Marketing report to you, each running a lean team that is set to grow. You’ll own the pipeline, the forecast, positioning, demand generation, and the numbers the Board sees.
This is not a build-from-scratch role, and it’s not a SaaS playbook. It’s science delivered as a service: every deal is scoped on the client’s real-world conditions, delivered by a scientific team, and carries a margin to protect. Your first mandate is to diagnose where performance is leaking, fix what better process can fix, and make a data-backed case for what needs new resources.
The company has strong traction and a seasoned founding team that knows the startup phase well. What it needs now is a leader who has already taken a commercial organization through the scale-up stage and wants to do it again, with real influence on growth strategy, pricing, and the product roadmap.
What You’ll Do
Own the revenue forecast and the commercial dashboard presented to the Board
Diagnose the commercial org (coverage, skills, tooling, process) and turn every gap into a costed action plan
Design the target GTM structure and hiring plan, then recruit, onboard, and coach the team
Define the end-to-end sales process and make the CRM the single source of truth
Standardize quoting with clear pricing models, scoping rules, and approval thresholds
Build the sales-to-delivery handoff with the science and operations teams, and protect margin on every project
Grow recurring and multi-year engagements across per-unit, package, and subscription models
Sharpen positioning by customer segment and translate complex science into clear business value
Lead demand generation through conferences, webinars, thought leadership, and targeted ABM
Prioritize international markets and design a coverage model that works across time zones
Represent the company with partners, industry bodies, and the broader ecosystem
Who You Are
10+ years in B2B sales and/or marketing, including leading a commercial team
through the scale-up phase , not the early startup phase
Experience selling
services or solutions, not just software : scoping, value pricing, and tight handoffs to technical delivery teams
A track record in
complex, long-cycle sales
with scientific, technical, and executive buyers
Comfortable owning commercial reporting to a Board and investors
Technical enough to master the science behind the platform quickly; a background in science, engineering, or data science is a strong asset
An optimizer at heart: you take what works and scale it rather than tearing it down
A coach who develops sellers, not just someone who manages a number
Professional fluency in
English ; French is a strong asset, as the leadership team works in French
High integrity: you never over-promise or bend the science to close a deal
Bonus: experience in climate tech, sustainability, agtech, food and beverage, or scientific consulting and engineering services
Bonus: Spanish and/or Portuguese, and international expansion experience
