Relief Master Marine Operations
BC Ferries
Lead deck operations for BC Ferries as a skilled Mate and Relief Master supporting coastal service from Crofton. Apply ship handling, navigation, and crew leadership expertise.
This Mate/Relief Master serves as Executive Officer for deck department activities and acts as Master, Large Vessel when required. The position plans and organizes crew, delegates vessel duties, and provides training and performance feedback. It also supports deck safety, security, maintenance, and crew administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct deck department activities as Executive Officer
Act as Master, Large Vessel when required
Plan, direct, and organize crew assignments
Delegate vessel duties and provide performance feedback
Perform deck safety and security administration
Requirements:
Six months Senior Watchkeeping Officer experience within three years
Knowledge of navigation equipment and techniques
Understanding of ship handling, stability, and seamanship
Computer literacy and clear English communication skills
Required Transport Canada certificates and Seafarers’ medical
Bring marine leadership, navigation knowledge, and deck management capability to BC Ferries’ coastal operations as Mate/Relief Master.
