Part Time Bylaw Compliance Officer
Vernon
Apply compliance expertise as a part time Bylaw Compliance Officer with the City of Vernon, using investigations and sound judgment daily.
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Protective Services, you will respond to complaints and enforce municipal bylaws. The position requires inspections, investigations, documentation, and customer service. You will use discretion and progressive enforcement techniques to achieve effective resolutions while following City policies and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, process, investigate, and resolve municipal bylaw complaints
Conduct foot, bike, and vehicle patrols
Prepare records, reports, correspondence, and evidence
Issue tickets, warning notices, and summonses
Attend adjudication hearings and provincial court
Requirements:
Minimum three years compliance, enforcement, policing, or corrections experience
Current valid BC Class 5 driver's license
Level 2 Advanced Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate
Ability to de-escalate agitated persons tactfully
Ability to work in all weather and terrain conditions
Support public safety and effective compliance through investigations, communication, enforcement judgment, and professional service across Vernon.
