Medicine Hat College seeks a Cook I to prepare complete meals and maintain food quality in its food service operations. Teamwork and safety matter.
Working with the Coordinator, Food Services, and reporting to the Manager of Hospitality and Conference Services, this Cook I prepares commercial-quantity meals. Responsibilities cover appetizers, main courses, vegetables, desserts, and equipment care. The successful candidate brings institutional food service equipment experience, strong food safety awareness, and the ability to work collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook complete meals for public consumption
Produce appetizers, main courses, vegetables, and desserts
Maintain the highest possible food quality standards
Follow food safety standards during food preparation
Clean and maintain equipment after food service activities
Requirements:
High School diploma and one year directly related experience
Experience operating institutional food services equipment
Math skills and English literacy
Ability to contribute within a team environment
Alberta Certified Cook qualification preferred, or apprenticeship
Bring institutional cooking experience, equipment knowledge, and certified food safety training to the Cook I position at Medicine Hat College.
