We are partnering with a well-established commercial property management firm to identify a
Property Accountant
to support a portfolio of industrial and commercial assets. This role is ideal for someone with
~2+ years of property accounting experience
who is looking to grow within commercial real estate.
The Role
Reporting to senior accounting and property management leaders, the Property Accountant will manage
full-cycle accounting
for assigned properties and act as the key accounting contact for internal stakeholders. You’ll provide accurate financial reporting and support budgeting, forecasting, and recoveries.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare month-end financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Process management fees, rent rolls, tenant billings, and recoveries (CAM & taxes)
Prepare tax filings and remittances (GST/PST, non-resident tax)
Support cash flow reporting, distributions, budgets, and forecasts
Review AR/AP, assist with tenant inquiries, and ensure accurate coding
Maintain lease data and recovery matrices within property management systems
Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with auditors
Assist with new property setup, dispositions, and special projects as needed
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
Minimum
2 years of property management accounting experience
CPA designation or progress toward CPA considered an asset
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and recoveries
Strong Excel and general MS Office skills
