Arkion Identity Systems, Inc.
Embedded Systems & Drone Security R&D Intern
Location Remote / Hybrid Greater Toronto Area
Work directly with the project lead to research and prototype identity management embedded in drones, progressing from simulation to a working hardware prototype.
This is a Fall/Winter internship: hands‑on embedded and security work, tested in simulation and on real hardware.
Responsibilities
What you’ll own.
Set up drone simulations using PX4 or ArduPilot.
Develop and integrate embedded software for drone identity, controller authentication, secure credential storage, and access controls.
Test the implementation in simulation and on real hardware, including connectivity loss and authentication failures.
Document architecture, experiments, code, and results.
Required Skills
What you’ll bring day one.
Core
C/C++, Python, Linux, and Git.
Understanding of flight controllers, embedded systems, MAVLink, and hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, or I²C.
Strong troubleshooting and technical documentation skills.
Nice to Have
Software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
STM32, RTOS, embedded Linux, or companion computers.
Cryptographic identity, certificates, secure elements, secure boot, or credential provisioning.
ROS 2, MAVSDK, or pymavlink.
Why Join Us
01 Take an idea from simulation to a working hardware prototype.
02 Work directly with the project lead.
03 Learn how cryptographic identity works on machines that fly.
