Material Handler Equipment Operator

Handle and grade scrap metal with Liebherr and Volvo equipment at Richmond Steel Recycling Ltd. on Mitchell Island in Richmond.
The Heavy Equipment Operator supports responsible recycling through specialized material handling and efficient scrap processing. The role uses the Liebherr Material Handler LH60, Front End Loader, Volvo 380 Excavator, Bale Breaker, and Shear attachments. Work may include external locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect mobile equipment before operation and complete sheets
Handle hazardous waste and grade different scrap metals
Load and unload heavy material safely
Maintain machinery through lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
Communicate hazards and equipment damage to supervisors
Requirements:
Three or more years of heavy equipment operating experience
Assertive communication with supervisors and maintenance personnel
Ability to work independently in changing environments
Physical ability to climb safely from material handlers
Morning, afternoon, overtime, and weekend shift availability
Use material handling, inspection, and scrap grading capabilities to support Richmond Steel Recycling Ltd.'s recycling operations in Richmond.
