Recreation Sports Coach Specialist
YMCA of Greater Toronto
Coach participants and guide sports program delivery at the Steve and Sally Stavro YMCA in Toronto, with a focus on safety. Work on-site across youth, family, and adult recreation programming.
As a Sports Specialist, you will provide direct leadership for varied YMCA program areas and leagues. You will monitor program performance, support member engagement, and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents, staff, volunteers, and community partners. The position also contributes to service leadership and program goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct leadership across diverse recreational program areas
Monitor program performance and strengthen participation and retention
Coach and develop participants and teams for growth
Circulate through program areas supporting delivery excellence
Respond immediately to safety or emergency concerns
Requirements:
Recreation leadership, kinesiology, or equivalent experience preferred
Sports Coach Certification strongly preferred
At least one year coaching children in sports
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to establish rapport with members and volunteers
