Medical Laboratory Assistant Pre Analytics
Alberta Precision Labs
Support specimen processing and data entry as a Medical Laboratory Assistant I in Calgary’s Diagnostic Scientific Centre, with evening and weekend shifts.
Working in Alberta Precision Laboratories’ Pre Analytics department, you will provide safe, efficient service to clinical laboratory clients. The position involves specimen distribution, processing, transcription, communication, and customer service. You will support laboratory operations within a 24/7 Southern Alberta Hub Lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Transcribe patient demographics and tests accurately into the LIS
Receive, process, and sort specimens and requisitions
Prepare specimens for transfer or referral
Answer telephone inquiries and provide client service
Maintain laboratory equipment and assist staff training
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program
Basic computer knowledge and data entry proficiency
Experience in a medical laboratory within two years preferred
Ability to lift containers weighing up to 40 pounds
Ability to maneuver rolling carts weighing up to 200 pounds
