Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)
JOY AND GROW THERAPY
Implement individualized OT treatment plans under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Prepare and adapt engaging, developmentally appropriate therapeutic activities, teaching materials, and visual supports.
Support children's development in motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, play, social participation, and activities of daily living.
Provide coaching and modeling to parents and caregivers, as directed by the OT, to support carryover at home.
Assist children and families with the appropriate use of therapeutic equipment, adaptive tools, and assistive devices
Observe, document, and track children's participation, performance, and progress toward individualized goals
Communicate significant changes, concerns, or observations promptly to the supervising OT.
Collaborate with OTs, Behaviour Analysts, Behaviour Therapists, SLPs, and other professionals to support coordinated care
Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and supervision sessions as required.
Qualifications
Completion of an Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution.
A minimum of two years of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, developmental disabilities, or complex support needs.
Experience supporting children and collaborating with their parents, caregivers, and families.
Knowledge of child development, autism, developmental disabilities, sensory processing, motor development, self-regulation, and functional skill development.
Experience working within an interdisciplinary, family-centred service model is preferred.
