Senior Insurance Legal Counsel

Support group insurance and retirement savings businesses with legal guidance, regulatory analysis, and commercial agreements at Desjardins. Work closely with partners across Canada.
This Senior Legal Advisor role sits within Desjardins' Commercial Law and Securities Department. You will advise sectors responsible for group insurance and group retirement savings products. The position requires practical solutions, strong communication, complex contract experience, and knowledge of regulated financial services. You will participate in strategic initiatives and consultations while supporting business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal guidance on regulatory matters affecting sector operations
Develop and evolve group insurance and retirement savings solutions
Negotiate agreements with clients, partners, and vendors
Review service, confidentiality, and strategic partnership agreements
Collaborate with compliance, privacy, and information security teams
Requirements:
Law degree and Quebec Bar membership in good standing
Minimum six years' relevant experience in regulated legal work
Commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience
Knowledge of insurer and financial services legal frameworks
Fluent written and spoken French and English
Use commercial law, insurance knowledge, and pragmatic analysis to advise Desjardins' evolving group solutions businesses.
