Commercial Liability Underwriting Intern

Build commercial liability underwriting experience with Sompo in Toronto through exposure analysis and operational analysis. This fully on-site internship supports practical insurance learning.
Sompo’s 10-week internship develops candidates interested in insurance and reinsurance. As a Commercial Management Liability Underwriting Intern, you will work with experienced underwriters and learn underwriting philosophy. The program includes mentoring, structured leadership learning, networking, and a project presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist underwriters with insured exposure analysis
Conduct operational analysis of insureds
Compile competitor analysis using public databases
Support renewal list development with Underwriting Assistants
Contact brokers and accompany internal meetings
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program
Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout the internship
Be a rising Junior or Senior
Show interest in an insurance career
Demonstrate analytical, communication, and organizational skills
