Water Wastewater Operator Trainee
Ontario Clean Water Agency
Operate water and wastewater facilities for OCWA in Amherstburg, using treatment knowledge, maintenance skills, and careful process monitoring. This full-time position supports regional operations.
As a Water and Wastewater Operator Trainee, you will operate and maintain facilities within the Amherstburg/Bellwood Cluster. The work requires wastewater treatment knowledge, basic mathematics and chemistry, technical interpretation, and equipment maintenance capabilities. You will also support safe operations through accurate logs, sampling, reporting, and process adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain regional water and wastewater facilities
Inspect, monitor, and adjust facility processes and equipment
Perform preventive maintenance and manual labour
Take samples and interpret results for process control
Maintain accurate logs and write operational reports
Requirements:
Hold OIT to Class IV required certification or license
Possess a valid Class G driver’s license
Understand wastewater treatment and relevant regulatory requirements
Interpret manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications
Remain available for overtime and rotating on-call response
Develop water and wastewater operations expertise through facility maintenance, process monitoring, certification, and practical technical work.
