Safely operate a log crane in Hearst, Ontario, using heavy-equipment experience and two-way radio communication to support mill production.
GreenFirst Forest Products seeks a Log Crane Operator for its mill operation. You will feed logs to the slasher, unload trucks, organize yard inventory, and manage storage areas. The work requires safety awareness, equipment inspections, and coordination with crews, drivers, and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the log crane safely and maintain wood flow
Feed logs to the slasher and unload incoming trucks
Organize wood by species, size, and length
Inspect equipment and document pre-operational findings
Maintain radio contact and report hazards immediately
Requirements:
Experience operating heavy equipment, cranes, or industrial machinery
Sawmill or forestry experience preferred
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety procedures
Strong verbal communication using two-way radio
Ability to work independently and coordinate with crews
