Disability Claims Manager Elmira

Manage disability claims from RWAM’s Elmira head office, using critical thinking and communication to guide fair entitlement decisions. Support employees through medical absences.
RWAM seeks a Disability Claims Manager to proactively manage disability claims and assess employee recovery and return to work. The position requires compassionate communication, medical information analysis, and informed judgment. You will work with Rehabilitation Specialists, employers, insurance carriers, and medical practitioners as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Determine benefits available through employer disability plans
Review medical information for STD and LTD entitlement
Develop recovery and return-to-work plans with specialists
Conduct phone interviews about absence details
Coordinate independent medical examinations when required
Requirements:
Strong communication and active listening skills
Ability to navigate difficult situations and conversations
Ability to assess complex claims and contractual language
Post-secondary degree, healthcare background, or related experience
French language is an asset
