Our client is currently seeking a
Health and Safety Professional
to join their team on a full-time, 2-year contract in Napanee. The ideal candidate will bring experience in the construction, mining, or industrial sectors and possess a solid understanding of industry health and safety standards, regulations, and best practices. They will have the ability to work effectively in construction, mining and industrial environments while promoting safe work practices and supporting operational health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct site inspections and recommend safety improvements
Support supervisors in monitoring and maintaining safety compliance
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of health and safety policies
Ensure all activities comply with company policies and industry regulations
Assist with or lead audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Provide safety training and orientation to employees
Conduct hazard and risk assessments
Attend safety meetings and maintain required documentation
Manage and monitor use of safety equipment and supplies
Analyze safety data and recommend action where needed
Perform related administrative tasks
Participate in health and safety initiatives and projects
Qualifications and Requirements:
Post-secondary education or training in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent experience
Minimum 4-5 years of experience in a health and safety role
Safety designations such as CRSP, CHSC, or NCSO, or currently working toward one considered an asset
Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) certification, First Aid, CPR, and AED considered assets
Working at Heights certification required
Skills and Experience:
Experience in health and safety within the construction, mining, or industrial sectors
Strong reporting, documentation, and attention to detail
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Self-motivated and capable of working independently
Proficient with safety management systems and Microsoft Office
